For Hotel Recommendations, Friends Beat Out Parents as Number One Trusted Source, According to National Survey:

The independent survey of more than 1,000 Americans over 18 across the country was conducted in March 2006, by Opinion Research. Half (50 percent) of all survey participants said they would be most comfortable taking hotel advice from a friend, while only 17 percent said parents were their most trusted source, and 14 percent stated they would be most comfortable taking a hotel recommendation from a travel agent. Travel guidebooks and co-workers were both chosen by seven percent of the survey participants.
